Dr Sandeep Uppal
Education and Training
Dr. Sandeep studied medicine at University College of Medical Sciences, and then underwent postgraduate training in Otolaryngology, Head & Neck Surgery at MAMC, University of Delhi in India, where he distinguished himself by being awarded the Gold Medal for his clinical research and thesis.
Dr. Sandeep then pursued advanced specialisation in Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery in the UK and was awarded the Certificate of Completion of Training by the Intercollegiate Board of the Royal College of Surgeons. He is a Fellow of both the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.
Following his ENT training, he committed to a focused one-year Fellowship under the European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery (EAFPS). Following this he successfully attained certifications from both the International and European Boards of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (IBCFPRS and EBCFPRS). In recognition of his exceptional academic achievements, he was awarded the Claus D. Walter Award by the IFFPSS in 2012.
Dr. Sandeep further enriched his skill set by completing a one-year Fellowship in Advanced Rhinology, facilitated by the Royal College of Surgeons in England. During this intensive training he gained expertise in management of nasal allergies and sinusitis.
Contribution to Professional Bodies
Dr Sandeep serves as the Chairman of the Facial Plastic Surgery Section under the Chapter of Otolaryngology, College of Surgeons, Academy of Medicine, Singapore. He is the Vice of President of Pan Asia Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (PAAFPRS) and Vice Chair for Facial Rejuvenation for Facial Reconstructive and Cosmetic Surgery India Trust (FRCSIT).
Dr Sandeep serves on the Board of the International Board for Certification in Facial Plastic Surgery (IBCFPRS). He holds the position of Chair of the Fellowship Committee of the International Federation of Facial Plastic Surgery Societies (IFFPSS). He is also a member of the examination development committee for Otorhinolaryngology exit examinations, overseen by the Ministry of Health in Singapore.
Research and Teaching
Dr. Sandeep Uppal received the prestigious Clinical Research Training Fellowship from the Medical Research Council (MRC) UK in 2004 to conduct research on Genetic Basis of ENT Diseases. His significant findings were published in the highly respected journal Nature Genetics. In 2012, he was conferred a PhD by the University of Leeds, UK, for his pioneering work.
Dr. Sandeep is credited with 3 book chapters and 37 scholarly articles published in peer-reviewed international journals, covering subjects like Facelift, Browlift, Rhinoplasty, Septoplasty, Blepharoplasty, Sleep apnoea, and Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS) and Facial Fractures.
He serves as the Section Editor for the Rhinology and Facial Plastic Surgery portion of the book 'Symptom Oriented Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery' and is a reviewer for a few prestigious scientific journals.
He has been invited to make more than 170 presentations at over 75 different scientific events worldwide. He is the Course Director for the internationally renowned 'Eleven Days of Facial Plastic Surgery' programme.
